Join us at the Rediscovery Centre on the 9th of March 2024 where you can bring along your broken item and work together with our experts to help you repair it. There will be experts in textiles\, furniture and bicycles. \nPlaces on the day are on a first come and first served basis. Please find below a list of repairs we can provide. While we can’t upcycle or take on big projects on the day we are happy for you to use your timeslot to get advice on how to complete your project at home. \n  \nThe Bike Team can work on the following repairs with you: \n– Bike assessment \n– Bike fit adjustment \n– General tuning and adjustments \n– Puncture repair and tire replacement of common wheel sizes \n– Mechanical brake cable and common brake pads replacements \n– Mechanical gear cable and common chain/gear size replacements \n– Wheel straightening \nThe Textiles team can work on the following repairs with you: \n– Patching holes in clothing/textiles \n– Taking up hems on skirts\, tops or trouser legs \n– Fixing zips but not replacing zips \n– Replacing buttons \n– While we can’t upcycle or do alterations on the day we are happy for you to use your timeslot to get advice on how to complete the upcycle or alteration at home \nThe Furniture team can work on the following repairs with you: \n– Wooden dining chairs \n– Wooden kitchen chairs \n– Wooden coffee tables \n– Wooden stools \n– Footstools \n– While we can’t upcycle or take on big projects on the day we are happy for you to use your timeslot to get advice on how to complete your project at home

Bicycle tyres and brakes need regular maintenance\, and doing the maintenance yourself will extend the life of your bike’s components and keep you on the road. Would you like to use 3D software\, lasercutter and 3D printing to help you make your idea? \nTOG has an open evening to learn how CAD software and 3D fabrication tools can help you make your project. \nAll you need to take part is your own laptop and some ideas on what you want to make. \nThis is not a taught class\, more like an informal working group of self-directed makers. \nWe will be happy to help you explore how to use our 3D tools in designing and making your project whether you are a crafter\, designer\, engineer or hobbyist. \nCome and have a look at the tools in our space and get some ideas on how your project can be made.

DESCRIPTION:Our DIY workshops are open to all. Come along and learn to fix your own bike with guidance from our volunteer mechanics. \nWe have salvaged parts available if your bike needs them. You can choose to pay for new parts\, or you can access some of our second hand parts and pay what you can afford on a donation basis. We have consumables like cables and oil\, also on a pay by donation basis. \nDIY workshops are every Wednesday night 6-9pm in our community workshop.

You can help without touching a single bike if that’s your speed! \nWhat to bring?\nClothes you do not mind getting dirty\nComfy shoes\, you will be standing-walking on a wooden floor. \nHow it works \n\nGet an orientation on the shop\, where tools are\, how we match bikes to recipients\, and how we set up for the day.\nGrab a bike and put it on the stand! Learn how we assess newly donated bikes for repair and what the parts of the bike are called.\nTinker! If you’re experienced\, you could probably jump right in on fixing what’s broken. If you’re not\, we got you covered! We’ll teach you the basics and make sure you’re doing things right\nClean up for the day
