KASI, Killarney Immigrant Support Centre (formerly Killarney Asylum Seekers Initiative) was set up in 2000 to support Asylum Seekers, Refugees and other Migrants in Killarney and greater Killarney area. KASI operates a drop-in/resource center providing the following support/services:

• Information relevant to the needs of the target groups
• Practical support like assisting in filling in forms, writing letters, translating documents, CV preparation, etc.
• Advocacy
• Referrals to other support and services
• Outreach in DP Centres in Killarney and Kenmare Co. Kerry and Millstreet, Co. Cork
• Implementing, planning and organising activities to include health, education, (English) language support, social and integration activties that promote integration and appreciation of cultural diversity, etc.

KASI’s work evolved from the above to setting up social enterprises like the Charity Shop, Community Garden, lunch service in schools and the latest one opening Going Green Café and a Zero/Waste Refill Store. The aim is to create employment to Asylum Seekers, Refugees and other Migrants through training, placements and employment in the said projects. All the projects are as such interlinked and not only addresses social and economic impact, but also environmental impact.
