🗞Circular news of the week

• Contracts tendered by Government departments for works are falling woefully short of including so-called “green criteria”, with less than a fifth doing so, according to a report from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
• The EPA said it was a “missed opportunity” that a mere 17%, or €53m, of contracts over €25,000, worth some €320m in total, were deemed to include green criteria. Green Public Procurement (GPP) is a process where public authorities seek to source goods, services or works with reduced environmental impact. Read more in the Examiner.

• Accelerator Programme for Sustainable Textile and Fashion Designers: The EU-funded Fashion for Change 2022 Accelerator Programme aims to support designers, innovators and start-ups from the European textiles and fashion industry in the circular transition. Deadline: 19 May

• Survey (IRL): The Charities Regulator is working to further improve its ability to report meaningfully, accurately and to provide greater clarity and transparency in relation to the charity sector. With this aim in mind, a proposed charity classification standard has been developed with the intention of facilitating a discussion on introducing a standard that will be both workable and meaningful. Further details are available here.
