CRNI 2019 Annual Report Video

2019 saw an exciting buildup of momentum and awareness both by citizens and government on climate and resource efficiency action. In response, CRNI increased media engagement and communications, appearing over 16 times in media and promoting members and the climate message at 14 national and international events. We also ran 3 successful events in Sligo, Cork and Athlone reaching over 390 people on the themes of sustainable fashion, Sustainable Development Goals and Jobs and Skills for a Circular Economy. We added 5 new members to the network and helped build our members capacity with new business opportunities including Ireland’s first consortium for green and social public procurement, and by developing a tailored funding roadmap. We continued to work closely with the three key Departments and our members to identify green and social policy drivers needed to advance the sector. We also completed and disseminated our important EPA funded research project ReMark (Ireland’s reuse Quality Mark), finalised the Bulky Item Reuse research work to engage more Public Sector Bodies in reuse and kicked off a new research project with EPA funding to qualify and quantify reuse and a feasibility study for DAERA on the viability of a reuse network in Northern Ireland. CRNI has two full time staff members and a voluntary board and is grateful to the EPA for funding under the National Waste Prevention Programme.
