Circular Economy Bill introduced in Ireland

Last week, the government has introduced its Circular Economy Bill.  The new bill introduced has some great provisions, including;

• •  Giving the Minister the authority to impose levies on single use items, such as cups, food containers and packaging
  •  Setting out the mechanism to set up the Circular Economy Strategy and putting the food waste prevention strategy on legislative footing
  • Giving local authorities the ability to set up CCTV at dumping sites
  • Mandating that businesses adopt a 3-bin waste collection system
