CRNI is the national representative body for community-based social enterprises active in reuse, repair and recycling. Representing a growing network of circular social enterprises, CRNI works to ensure the sector’s contribution is recognised in national policy and that circular social enterprises are supported to grow and maximise their impact.
Dr O’Reilly takes up the role at a significant moment for both CRNI and the wider sector. Following the publication of the new Whole of Government Circular Economy Strategy, community-based social enterprises have an increasingly important role to play in delivering practical, inclusive and locally rooted reuse, repair and recycling solutions.
CRNI has consistently championed that role, advocating for greater recognition, investment and support for circular social enterprises. As a consultant, researcher and practitioner specialising in scaling social enterprises, Dr. O’Reilly brings significant expertise in strategy, governance and organisational growth. She holds a PhD in social enterprise scaling from TU Dublin (2025) and is an Adjunct Professor at Trinity Business School. She is also the founder of Social Enterprise Solutions Ireland, a consultancy that supports mission-driven organisations with strategy, governance and scaling.
Aidan Ó Gormáin, Executive Director of CRNI, said: “Clodagh brings exceptional leadership and deep sectoral expertise to this role. Clodagh’s leadership will strengthen CRNI’s work in representing our members and supporting circular social enterprises to scale in order to seize the opportunities presented by the transition to a more circular, inclusive and resilient economy.”
CRNI looks forward to working with Dr O’Reilly as it continues to advocate for the essential role of community-based social enterprises in Ireland’s circular economy and to support organisations that deliver essential environmental services, create training and employment opportunities, and strengthen communities across Ireland.
