Community Resources Network Ireland (CRNI) and our sister organisation Northern Ireland Resources Network (NIRN) are proud to co-host the inaugural Reuse and Repair Week from 30 May to 6 June 2026. This is a Shared Island celebration of reuse and repair, showcasing the innovation and creative activities of our members in developing and growing a circular economy.

The week will build on the success of NIRN’s previous repair week of 2025 and expands the focus to include the entire island and the broader themes of the Circular Economy waste hierarchy: Reduce, Reuse, and Repair.

How CRNI Members Can Participate

We want to encourage all CRNI members to take part. This can be done in 2 ways.

  1. Highlight Existing Activities: Promote any reuse and repair activities you are already undertaking during this week to ensure they are captured as part of the broader Shared Island programme.
  2. Programme Specific Events: Run new events or activities specifically organised for the Reuse and Repair Week.

Please share details of what you have planned during this week so we can capture and share.

What We Want to See During the Week

Activities will be a combination of hands-on initiatives and education and awareness sessions to highlight the social, environmental, and economic benefits of prioritising these actions.

We are encouraging our members to focus on:

  1. Reuse Activities: Buying preloved, sharing, and lending (e.g., swap shops, toy lending libraries, tool lending libraries).
  2. Repair Activities: Organising repair sessions for bikes, furniture, clothes, or running electrical repair cafés.
  3. Skills Sharing: Teaching and learning how to repair (e.g., DIY, bike maintenance, mending clothes).
  4. Awareness: Promotion of your existing and new reuse and repair activities.

Activities can cover a wide range of materials, including textiles, bikes, paint, furniture, food, construction materials, and toys.

Launch Event and NIRN & CRNI Partnership Opportunities

The 2026 programme will officially launch on Saturday 30 May at Grand Central Station, Belfast, with a pop-up Repair Café.

We are seeking members interested in two specific areas:

  1. Launch Event Participation: If you are interested in attending the launch event at Grand Central Station and/or would like to help out with repairs during the pop-up Repair Café, please get in touch.
  2. Inter-Member Collaboration: If you wish to engage with an NIRN member on a collaborative reuse or repair event during the week, we can help facilitate connections.

For all enquiries regarding participation in the launch event or to explore inter-member engagement, please contact Aidan or Elsa
