As part of Reuse Month October, CRNI with the support from the Southern Region Waste Office hosted a seminar on development opportunities in community reuse & recycling for the Southern Region. The interactive event was held at the Silver Springs Hotel in Cork on Friday 27th October and was followed by a tour of the Boomerang Recycling operation.
The seminar covered reuse and recycling in the context of the Circular Economy with presentations from:
Those in attendance included Local Development Companies, Local Enterprise Office staff, Public Participation Network and Cork Environmental Forum members, Environmental NGOs, County Council Environment Awareness Officers, and members of the prison service, amongst others.
A key part of the event was the interactive workshop session exploring reuse and recycling opportunities and barriers. The findings from the day can be summarised in four priority areas as shown above. CRNI is currently working on many of these priority areas in collaboration with the regional authorities and Departments.
